GCM-X (GENERATOR CONDITION MONITOR)
The GCM-X’s main purpose is to detect overheating in hydrogen cooled generators. This section describes system operation.
When present in hydrogen, pyrolytic products are quickly detected by the sensitive ion chamber of the GCM-X. The GCM-X warns of impending generator failure faster and more reliably than temperature sensor.
GGA (GENERATOR GAS ANALYZER)
Maintaining hydrogen purity Is critical to assuring proper Performance, profitability and Personnel safety levels.
Available in North America, E/One now offers best-in-class thermal conductivity and vibrating element technology with E/One’s GGA and Yokogawa Corporation of America’s (YCA) GD402.
The E/One-YCA alliance brings together industry leaders focused on plant-level relationships and a wide range of generator applications. With E/One’s GGA and YCA’s GD402, operators are provided with options in continuous monitoring of gas purity throughout all phases of generator operation.
The GGA is a triple-range sensor/analyzer that provides continuous monitoring of gas purity during all phases of generator operation. We’ve taken a proven monitoring principle — thermal conductivity — and improved upon it. The result of E/One’s development work is an extremely accurate, robust and stable system that eliminates the issues of drift and need for frequent recalibration seen in other thermal conductivity systems.
E/One supplies GGA systems in a range of configurations, from standalone sensor/analyzers and retrofit “drop-in” replacement systems to comprehensive hydrogen control cabinets that not only monitor gas purity, but provide continuous monitoring of case and differential pressures and interact with plant control systems to assure the highest levels of generator efficiency.
GGD II (GENERATOR GAS DRYER)
The Generator Gas Dryer (GGD) is a self-contained drying system incorporating a pre-filter, dual chamber desiccant dryer, an after-filter and a positive displacement blower. The system is monitored and controlled by microprocessor-based electronics. The GGD provides clean, dry hydrogen:
- During highest contamination loading
- During Idle time with less natural circulation boost
- While automatically eliminating operator attention
- By positively purging contaminants from the hydrogen system
Water, oil, and other contaminants cause corrosion in critical areas of electric power generators, resulting in diminished efficiency and increasing the likelihood of forced outages. Increased dew point levels also detract from generator efficiency by increasing windage losses.
E/One's Generator Gas Dryer (GGD II) is a dual-chamber system that continuously dries and recirculates generator cooling gas — even when the generator is on turning gear, which is a critical time to maintain low dew point.
- Increased generator efficiency and reduced downtime
- Comprehensive water and contaminant removal
- Microprocessor controlled
- Designed for hazardous location operation
- Self-monitored drying process
- Standard electrical actuator
- Compact design (29.75" w x 83" h x 38" d)
